THEORIES OF ASIAN ARCHITECTURE

PROJECT 2

The project is research driven that requires student to research and discuss significant issues to generate a critical
understanding of tradition, modernity and globalisation in the Asian architectural contexts. These issues are discussed in lectures and pre-recorded lectures to facilitate students’ group discussion in class. Students are required to present their findings in the form of a research poster and seminar presentation.

IMPACTS OF TRADITIONAL BUSINESSES & TOURISM ON HERITAGE ARCHITECTURE IN JALAN TUN H.S. LEE

REFLECTION

This final project is a culmination of the previous projects. Me and my group did hard research and collected data from the street chosen. We had to identify the problems and issues found in the street and translate that into research questions and statements. There was alot of differing opinions on which street to choose at first but in the end we settled on the famous Jalan Tun H.S. Lee. We designed a research poster based on the collected data and made a presentation video as well. This was a great learning experience, I felt like we were doing a group thesis on an interesting topic. With my newfound knowledge and experience with historical context and architecture, I will be able to apply this to my future endeavours.
