THEORIES OF ASIAN ARCHITECTURE

PROJECT 1

Place identity is constructed on meanings that were shaped through socio-cultural, economics and political factors
throughout a particular period of time. Such meanings are often embodied in the physical and non-physical aspects. In the context of traditional streets in a rapidly globalized city like Kuala Lumpur, changes in physical settings through
urban developments may pose significant impacts on their established meanings.

REFLECTION

Given a choice from many different historical streets, this project allows me to do research and analysis on the historical context of it. I was able to understand that the history of Asian architecture in Malaysia runs deep. The street's rich history piqued my interest in traditional history which I've never realized I had. This is an insightful project which had strengthened my connection with my roots and culture.
